Known as Durban’s greatest guitar master, Steve Fataar will grace the Awesome Africa stage in all of his glory accompanied by Errol Dyers. A true son of Durban, Steve celebrates his 72th birthday with his good friend, master guitarist, Errol Dyers from Cape Town. An occasion not to be missed, Steve and Errol will make every guitar fanatics’ dreams come true and convert the skeptics into super fans! At almost 72, Steve has spent close to 60 years holding a guitar. This true son of Durban soil has had his fair share of the spotlight. When Blondie Chaplin joined the Fataar brothers, Ricky and Brother in The Flames - the puzzle became complete and the band went on to rock the country, creating something akin to Beatle mania on SA soil. (‘white person’ in isiZulu

“Qadasi” (aka David Jenkins, meaning ‘white person’ in isiZulu), hails from Empangeni and developed a passionate interest in Zulu culture at the age of nine. Inspired by Phuzekhemisi and other popular Zulu musicians like Ace Maskanda guitarist Maqhinga Radebe, he mastered the playing of traditional Zulu music and took it to another dimension.

In keeping with the theme of showcasing outstanding talent from the Mandeni, KwaDukuza, Ndwedwe and Maphumulo regions of iLembe, featured artists for Mandeni include traditional Indian sounds from Kalakar featuring Keeran Eshwarlall, traditional Zulu dancing from Amasokemvelo, popular gospel band Mandeni Soul Healers, choral accapella from Central Voices, red hot maskanda from Sgora, kwaito sensations …
